History of BDPA Triangle Chapter

BDPA - Durham Chapter was chartered on September 15, 1989.

David Johnson - Chairman, Membership Committee

BDPA - Durham Chapter's bank account was established at NCNB, with a $220 deposit. BDPA Durham Chapter meetings were held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month at 4:00 pm. The initial Durham Chapter meetings were held at NC Mutual Life Insurance Company.

On March 19, 1990, Martha Lester, President of the BDPA Durham Chapter was the guest speaker for a prospective BDPA Raleigh Chapter to explore the possibility of uniting with the prospective BDPA Raleigh Chapter to emerge as one big successful chapter for the Raleigh-Durham area. Approximately twenty interested guests attended the meeting. This meeting would ultimately lead to what is now known as the BDPA Triangle Chapter.

By March 20, 1991, BDPA Triangle Chapter had grown to 25 members, according to the national membership database. The largest chapter in the nation at that time was the Detroit Chapter (143 members). Two years later, the Triangle Chapter had 50 members, and ultimately grew to over 90 members at its peak during the mid-90's.
